Katrina Family Fire

An early morning fire destroys a Westside home in Evansville. It happened on Delmar Avenue just before two Tuesday morning. That's when a neighbor spotted the home burning and called the fire department. Homeowner, Velvet Lashley says she plugged in portable heaters because her furnace went out. But about 30 minutes later the fuse blew and the electric went out. Lashley says she cut the main power after she saw smoke. Then she took her two kids to a friends house. She says she came back to check up on her home and didn't see any fire. But around 1:45 in the morning Evansville fire officials says they were called to the house. This isn't the first time this family has had to pick up and start over again. The family also lost a home in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. But now this fire has left them homeless and with no insurance.

Former WCW wrestler found dead in Atlanta home

ATLANTA A former wrestler was found dead in his home after suffering an apparent accidental drug overdose, his father said.

Chase Tatum, 34, was found dead Sunday in his home in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood, his father, Roy Tatum, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Chase Tatum used to wrestle for the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling organization. More recently, he appeared in the comedy "Who's Your Caddy?" alongside rapper Big Boi of Outkast.

Chase Tatum had been recovering from back surgery to repair a degenerative disc. His father said the former wrestler had been fighting a dependence to painkillers for years but had been planning to enter a rehabilitation center.

"He was in the process of getting his life back together," Roy Tatum said Monday.

Alabama homeowners insurance rates soar

Homeowners insurance rates in Alabama jumped by 69.1 percent between 2001 and 2005 - the second-largest rise nationally - despite the fact that Alabamians have lower incomes and are typically insuring less expensive home than in most other states. According to figures from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the rate pushes the state's average premium for the most common kind of homeowners insurance well above the national norm. Only Minnesota was worse with a 70.3 percent increase. Insurance Commissioner Walter Bell said the pain for homeowners in Alabama's two coastal counties, Mobile and Baldwin, has continued to worsen since 2005, although there have been signs of improvement in the state's other 65 counties. The commissioners' association has yet to release data for 2006 and 2007.
